Investing in private markets – Rosalyn to speak to students at Oxford's Saïd Busines
June 14th 2021, Online

On 14 June 2021, Rosalyn will be speaking to students at Oxford's Saïd Business School. She will be helping them to understand the issues investors face when deciding whether to make investments into private equity.

Private equity binds investors and managers together for a long time – typically ten or more years, given the long-term nature of private equity closed-ended funds. Therefore, it is critical that the incentives and legal contract are correctly structured to ensure that investors and managers act in the best interests of each other.

Date: 14 June 2021

Time: 9.00am – 12.30pm

Location: Online

During the session, there will be an Oxford Union-styled debate between Rosalyn and private equity lawyer Eamon Devlin on whether or not the industry is aligned, with Rosalyn arguing why the private equity industry is misaligned between investors and managers, exploring factors which include:

  • management fees;
  • co-investments;
  • waterfalls;
  • the limited partnership model;
  • continuation funds;
  • succession planning; and
  • lack of diversity.
